Pages and navigation

Building pages from sections, and your menus.

Pages are built from sections rather than a freeform editor. You cannot break a page with a bad paste, and every section stays responsive on a phone without you thinking about it.

Building a page

  1. Pages → Add page. Give it a title and a slug — the slug is the URL.
  2. Add sections, in the order you want them.
  3. Drag to reorder. Each section has its own draft status, so you can build one before it shows.
  4. Preview on a phone before publishing. Most of your customers are on one.

A home page that works

A conventional, effective order:

  1. Hero — who you are and what you sell, above the fold, in one sentence.
  2. Category tiles or hand-picked products — something to click within a second.
  3. Trust badges — returns, delivery, secure payment.
  4. Image + text — the brand story, once they are interested.
  5. Reviews — other people vouching for you.
  6. FAQ — the objections that stop a first order.
  7. Newsletter — for the ones who are not ready today.

Resist adding every section. A home page with eleven sections is a page nobody reaches the bottom of. Cut anything that is not doing a job.

Pages you actually need

Beyond the home page, these are the ones customers look for and payment providers expect:

  • About — who is behind the shop. It converts better than people expect.
  • Contact — a real way to reach you.
  • Shipping policy — how long, how much, where you deliver.
  • Returns policy — the single most common reason a first order does not happen.
  • Privacy policy and Terms.

Menus are built separately under Navigation — creating a category or a page does not add it to a menu. That is deliberate: you often want something to exist and be linked from a campaign without cluttering the main menu.

Menu items can point at a category, a page, a feature (like the shop or search) or a custom URL. Menus nest, and you reorder them yourself.

Keep the main menu to about five items. Everything else belongs in the footer. A menu that needs two rows on a laptop is a menu nobody reads.

The pages you get for free

404 and search are handled and styled already — you do not need to build them.
