AI provider
Choosing a provider, a model, and capping the spend.
AI is optional. It powers content drafting and the shopping concierge. You bring your own key, billed to your own account at cost.
Choosing a provider
Integrations → AI. Four options:
| Provider | Notes |
|---|---|
| Anthropic (Claude) | Key from console.anthropic.com. |
| OpenAI | Key from platform.openai.com. |
| Google Gemini | Key from Google AI Studio. |
| Other (OpenAI-compatible) | Groq, Together, DeepSeek, Mistral, OpenRouter, or a local Ollama. Needs a base URL. |
The fields
| Field | What to enter |
|---|---|
| Provider | One of the four above. |
| Anthropic API key | Only for the Anthropic provider. |
| API key | Used by every provider except Anthropic. |
| Base URL | Only for "Other" — e.g. https://api.groq.com/openai/v1. |
| Model | e.g. claude-haiku-4-5, gpt-4o-mini, gemini-2.0-flash. |
| Daily cost cap (₹) | Checked before every call. 0 means no cap. |
| Auto-apply AI content | Off = everything goes to the review queue first. Leave it off. |
| USD → INR rate | Used to estimate cost in rupees. |
Which model
Start with a cheap, fast model. Product descriptions and alt text do not need the most capable model available, and the difference in cost across a few hundred products is real. Move up only if the output disappoints.
Set a daily cap
Set it before you generate anything. A cap is the only thing standing between a mistake and a bill — a loop, a bulk job run twice, or an experiment left running. Start low; you can always raise it.
Leave auto-apply off
With it off, every generation waits in a review queue for you to apply or reject. With it on, generated text goes straight onto live products. Off is the right default, and there is little reason to change it until you trust the output on your own catalog.
Running a local model
Choose Other and point the base URL at Ollama or LM Studio on your own machine. Slower, free, and your catalog never leaves your hardware. Worth considering if the data matters more than the speed.
Testing it
- Press Test to confirm the key is accepted.
- Generate a description for one product.
- Check the recorded cost for that generation — that is your unit cost, and it tells you what doing the whole catalog will run to.
- Read the draft before applying it.
Once it is working, see AI for what it can actually do.
