AI
Drafting copy, the shopping concierge, and connecting Claude.
AI is entirely optional. Configure no key and every feature below simply sits dormant — your store runs exactly as it otherwise would.
Connecting a provider
Under Integrations → AI. You bring your own key, billed to your own account at cost: Anthropic, OpenAI, Google Gemini, or any OpenAI-compatible endpoint (Groq, Together, DeepSeek, Mistral, OpenRouter, or a local Ollama).
| Daily cost cap | A rupee limit checked before every call, so nothing can run up a bill overnight. Set one. |
| Cost per task | Tokens in, tokens out and rupee cost are recorded on every generation. |
Drafting content
AI can draft product copy, SEO meta, image alt text, FAQ blocks, and campaign and journey messages. It reads your existing published copy first, so drafts sound like your brand rather than like a model that has never seen your catalog.
Nothing is published without you. Every generation lands in a review queue. You apply it or reject it — applying is the only thing that touches live content.
What it can and cannot change
Generated text can only ever land in specific fields — name, description, SEO meta, alt text. It cannot touch a price, a stock level or an order status, however it is prompted.
Using it well
- Give it good products to learn from. It copies the voice of what you have already written, so fix your best product page first.
- Read every draft. It is a first draft, not a final one.
- It is at its best on the boring bulk — alt text for 200 images, meta descriptions for a whole category.
The shopping concierge
With AI on, incoming WhatsApp and Instagram messages can be answered automatically — DMs and comment replies both.
- It cannot invent a product, a price or a link. Your catalog is searched first and the model may only recommend from that shortlist. The product card in the reply is written by the store from the catalog row, not by the model.
- It knows their last order — number and status — resolved only from a verified contact.
- Every conversation lands in your inbox, so a person can take the thread at any point.
- It degrades safely. With AI off or the provider having a bad day, it falls back to a fixed helpful reply rather than failing in front of a customer.
Watch the first fifty conversations. It answers from your catalog, so gaps in your product data show up as unhelpful answers. That is worth knowing early.
Connecting Claude or ChatGPT
Covered in full in Connecting Claude or ChatGPT. The short version:
Your store can be connected to Claude or ChatGPT directly, letting you ask questions in plain language — "which products are quietly running out of stock?", "what did last month's campaign actually earn?" — answered from your real data.
| What it costs | |
|---|---|
| The connector | Nothing per query. It runs on the Claude or ChatGPT subscription you already pay for — no API key involved. |
| An API key | Billed per token. Needed only for work that runs unattended: the concierge, and bulk generation. |
Three tiers of access, and you decide where the line sits:
- Read — sales, orders, catalog, customers, shipping, SEO. Each tool checks the same staff permission as the admin screen showing the same data.
- Draft — writes to the review queue and nowhere else. A human still applies it.
- Write — changes live data. Off by default, behind a separate switch, and every change is audited.
Start read-only. There is no hurry to switch writes on, and asking questions is where most of the value is anyway.
