Own vs rent

Three years is where the difference shows.

Month one, a subscription looks cheap. It is the thirty-sixth month that decides whether you bought software or just kept paying rent on it. Put your own numbers in below.

Your numbers, not ours.

We deliberately don't pre-fill a competitor's price — plans change and yours depends on which add-ons you actually use. Open your current invoice and type what it says.

Total order value in an average month.

The base plan on your current or intended platform.

Cart recovery, WhatsApp, reviews, page builders, reporting — add them up.

The platform's own commission only. Leave out your payment gateway's charge — you pay that either way.

Paid to your own provider. Adjust to whatever plan you'd actually buy.

Arithmetic only — it multiplies what you typed by 36 months. It doesn't know your growth rate, and it can't account for a plan you upgrade halfway through.

Generalised, because every platform and plan differs — check the specifics of whichever one you're weighing against this.

Straight answer

When a rented platform is the better call.

We would rather lose the sale than sell you the wrong thing and spend three months arguing about it.

Choose a rented platform if…

  • You want to be selling this afternoon and can't wait a week and a half.
  • You need a specific app from their marketplace that nothing else replaces.
  • Nobody on your side will ever touch hosting, and you want that to be someone else's problem permanently.
  • You're testing whether the product sells at all and don't yet want to commit capital to infrastructure.

Choose GoSell if…

  • The monthly bill has started to annoy you, and the app bills more so.
  • You're doing enough volume that a percentage cut is real money.
  • You want your customer and order data on infrastructure you control.
  • You sell in India and need COD, pincode checks and WhatsApp to work properly rather than approximately.
  • You want the option to hire any developer, not only ones who know one platform.
Named platforms are mentioned only to describe compatibility and market context. Their plans, fees and feature sets change often — confirm the current details with them before deciding.

See the real admin before you spend a rupee.

Twenty minutes on a screen share. We open a live store, add a product, run a test order through Razorpay, push it to Shiprocket and show you the WhatsApp thread it creates. If it isn't right for you, we'll say so.
